My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: NC
I worked as a contractor in a company for 5 weeks. I got the pay checks(for 4 weeks salary) in the office. When I left the company in the fifth week, the accountant told me she would mail the remaining one week's check. It is more than $1000. But I haven't received it. I contacted the other coworker and he said the boss lost the founding and everybody was laid off.
Therefore I tried to contact the boss directly by email. He did receive the email and replied me that he would check the time sheet and processing the payroll immediately. However I still haven't got it.
I sent him a few emails thereafter but nothing is heard. He just doesn't reply me.
I don't know how to do it?
