Spousal Support and Alimony: Divorce

My question involves a marriage in the state of: Support Modification 10 years later. Is there a rule for whether or not work-related job expenses can be submitted in DISSO for child support? Lawyer said can't use them because they are included in my tax return as deductions so therefore can't be used for the calculator. This doesn't sound right to me. Is there a rule that you can only count the expenses if you don't write them off in taxes? I am a pilot and in military reserves. I cannot do my job if I don't have rental cars, Uber/Lyft and hotels because I don't live anywhere close to my work sites. If a return flight is delayed or I can't fly standby I am stuck and need to get a hotel. I've had the same basic work-related expenses for 15 years, including during the marriage.
