My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Florida, Me and my boyfriend had just got off work at 8pm been there since 7am. On the way home we stopped at the gas station, as we got out the car there was a police car driving by who stopped dead in his tracks to watch us enter the store. When we left the store, the same police car got behind us and was flicking their headlights on and off, which caused my boyfriend to drive over the white line, they pulled us over and we asked them why, they told us “you have a taglight GOING out and you drove over the white line” the other officer said that we had weed in plan view when they stopped us, WHAT DUMB ASS WOULD DO THAT? So as THEY opened our car doors ON THEIR OWN as they were telling us to step out. My boyfriend said no to a search. I asked why we got pulled over again and they said they ran the tags and seen that he had a suspended license but the car isn’t even registered in his name, my mom arrived and asked why we got pulled over and they told her a different reason, the reason being that the “brake light was out” both lights were perfectly fine including the taglights. My boyfriend got 3 charges for the weed, grinder, and suspended license. This is his first time ever getting in trouble with the law, the weed was less than 5 grams, not even enough to smoke. My question is we’re they allowed to scoop us out for no reason, open our doors, give 3 different reasons for pulling us over, & flick their headlights at us? One of the officers is in training, he was being trained by the other officer, they were looking to pull someone over and we were the only people out being that the town is small and not a lot of cars are out at night.
Mind you, we had been at work since 7am that morning, we didn’t smoke in the car so there was no smoke or smell when we got out at the gas station. They searched the car 5 different times looking over the same places thinking they were going to find more then what they found which was the grinder & little spects of weed.
