My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Oregon
My wife and I went to an RV dealer and talked with a salesman about a 2005 motor home. After taking a quick look at the inside we went to his office. We told him our credit scores so he could give us a rough estimate of the monthly payments based on their asking price.
I told him the monthly payments were ok so he wanted to start writing up the contract right then but I told him I wanted to test drive it first but that we didn't have time right then. We scheduled for the following week.
He wanted our credit card number and copies of our drivers licenses. Right when we were leaving the manager came out and said he'd put a sold sign on it which I thought was strange since we haven't signed anything or even agreed on a price but I didn't say anything. I also noticed they took it off their website.
That was two days ago. Since then I've checked the specs and discovered that the motor home doesn't have enough sleeping capacity for us (we have a disabled daughter who cannot climb into the bunk).
My question is since they said they would mark it as sold, if I cancel the test drive and tell them that one won't work for us can they charge me anything? Again we haven't signed anything but they do have my credit card number. But the fact that they said they would put a sold sign on it worries me. Thanks for any replies. JR
