My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Texas
My 17 year old daughter has seen her dad a approximately 3 times since school started in August but has not spent the night with him a single time. She says it is more convenient for her to stay with me and her dad does not insist that she abide by the joint physical custody/standard visitation order.
Are there benefits for me to get the custody changed legally? She will be 18 one year from now and then will finish high school in May and be off to college.
He went on long term disability in 2009 at the time of the divorce, my child support is payed directly to me via social security, but he is not paying for any additional food or meals for her. I told him grocery bills are about $100 a week, but he never responded to helping with those costs. This is whole situation is ironic now that he rarely sees her but would now allow me to move out of state when I asked a year ago.
