My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Oklahoma
I am the original owner of a motorcycle I purchased in 1998. Oklahoma is not a title holding state, so I have the original title. I paid off the loan through HRSI as agreed. I am now wanting to sell this motorcycle. I realized the title still shows the lien holder (remember, the original title). I couldn't recall ever receiving a lien release on this. Before going and digging through old files in a storage unit, I called OK to see if they received a lien release. They have not. I started researching, only to find that HRSI is out of business, has been purchased many times over, and apparently, is notorious for these shenigans! I did send a copy of the title, and a letter with current contact info to Capitol 1 today. I am not confident that this will get me anywhere, given the age of motorcycle and old loan. Do I have any options at all? Again, I am the original owner, the loan was paid in full.
