My question involves court procedures for the state of: Connecticut
I filed a complaint in Small Claims Court for return of rent and security deposit from a landlord because the property I leased was not habitable. The landlord counter sued for breach of contract and won a judgement of $1000 against me in 2011. I was ordered to pay $35 per month and could not pay as my only income was from social security disability. Additionally, the judgement creditor never made any attempt to collect the debt since I did not have any assets.
Now, having the money to satisfy the judgement, I contacted my pro bono attorney and the landlord's attorney to proceed with settlement. My attorney states that the landlord's attorney archived the case file and has been nonresponsive to their inquires and attempts at settlement. My attorney is apathetic toward pursuing additional attempts at resolution because representation was pro bono. Also, I have made attempts to reach the landlord directly with no response.
The judgement debt does not appear on any of my credit reports. However it does appear on pubic record until 2031 and has prevented me from obtaining a mortgage even though my credit and income are acceptable.
What course of action do I have at resolving the judgement whether through the court, or on the public record, or against the judgement creditor if any?
