Determination of Fault: Lane Change Collision

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California

Last night on my commute home I was traveling in the #1 lane on a road with one other lane going that direction. My lane was stop and go with heavy traffic. The #2 lane was flowing because it turns into a freeway entrance lane, whereas the #1 lane allows drivers to continue traveling along that road, and under the freeway overpass. Because of the lane changing into a freeway entrance lane, many people either cut the traffic line and squeeze into the #1 lane, or they simply didn't pay attention to the signs and realize they need to get over at the last minute.

As my lane approached where the #2 lane changes to the thicker dotted line indicating an turn only lane, a person in an SUV decided they had to get into my lane from the #2 lane. They stopped in the #2 lane and pushed their way into the #1 lane to get into the space in front of me (where there was no space for an SUV or any car for that matter). During this person's journey bullying their way into my lane and the space I occupied, they made contact with my car along the passenger side front bumper/fender/wheel. I merely maintained my lane position while they disregarded my presence and swiped alongside my car. I did not exit my lane at all and I'm lucky they didn't push my car into the median.

Luckily I got them to pull over about 3/4 of a mile up the road. They refused to give me their info so I ended up calling the police who did not file a report (jurisdiction issues or something?). The officer implied that I was not at fault but obviously couldn't make a determination at the time. My insurance company has determined I am not at fault and now I'm waiting to hear from from the other person's insurance company.

I also caught the incident on my dash cam. Should I give that to the other person's insurance company? Or hold onto it until it is absolutely needed?

I'm kind of worried because the entire time we were pulled over waiting for the officer, they were in denial that the had done anything wrong and that I was at fault simply because I was not being courteous and letting them in. They refused to give me their info until the police came and forced them to. I was floored. I couldn't believe the delusion. But anyway, I digress. Do you think (judging off an internet post) that fault will be on the other person as determined by their insurance? Or do you think I'm going to have to put up a fight?

I really don't want to deal with all of this but there is significant damage to my car and I didn't do anything to this person to cause it.
