My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: IL
I have purchased a lot of 15 iphones, salvage condition, from a reputable online wholesaler.
Description says:
"Salvage. Broken, missing parts, user ID locked or otherwise non-functional; usually only good for parts and cannot be disputed. The phones have some mix of issues, such as cracked screens, won't power on, etc."
After checking the IMEI numbers it was clear that 4 phones are reported as lost/stolen.
I have disputed the purchase by sending all stolen/lost documented info, the wholesaler dispute insurance got involved and after the agent contacted the seller I was told that since it was in salvage condition I have no base to dispute it. When I insisted that this property was stolen/lost and I do not want to have it in my possession, he told me that those were ONLY reported lost/stolen to the carrier provider and not to the police, therefore there is nothing they can do.
I really do not think companies can sell stolen/lost property (maybe unknowingly) but now when they learned it was they should make it right.
Can I do anything regarding to this issue?
Thank you for your help!
