My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Illinois
I recently ran my credit report and saw a collection of $900+ which I was never aware of. I contacted the collection company and they sent me the reason behind it, which was apparently late fee's that I never informed of and repainting an apartment. This all took place around 2011 and this is my first time hearing of this. I looked at the paperwork they sent and the name was completely wrong on the lease. Instead of "David Doe', it was "Derrick Doe" for every reference of my name in the lease. Do I have any legal action of getting this removed from my credit report for the simple fact that the lease is made out to the wrong person?
