My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Ohio
Long story but here is the condensed version. 3 years ago I moved from my home and moved in with my boyfriend into his mother's house. My home is rented and my tenants are current. I have been paying $600.00 a month in rent to my ex-bf's mother, we have no lease as this was intended to be a co-habitational situation where I help to take care of his disabled mother. We are in the midst of a nasty break up. He is threatening me with eviction even though he is not the owner of the home and pays nothing to live there. My rent is current, I get my mail there and have a key. The owner, his mother, has dementia and her other son is the manager of the property. My ex is telling me that his brother will do whatever he says and have me evicted immediately. He said he is going to tell his brother to refuse my rent next month and change the locks. Is this legal? What are my rights?
Also, he is growing marijuana in the backyard. I have two small grandchildren that visit me and his mother resides with us and is disabled. He is threatening and intimidating me regarding disclosing his operation to the police. He threw a plate at my head when I was sleeping. The house is divided by a common access door, it is two suites each with private entrance. My ex keeps coming into my side and going through my mail, eating food out of my fridge and harassing me. I have to lock myself in my bedroom to avoid contact with him. What are my legal rights and how do I handle the illegal drug issue?
Thirdly, I have to move ASAP but I have no where to go except for my rental home. One tenant said she will be room mate with me but the other needs to go. How do I handle this situation?
It's a lot I know but any help would be appreciated.
