My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Wyoming
So, my apartment has been getting broken into. The problem has been off and on for about a year. Each time the items taken have been small, values around $20 per incident. Because of this, I did not file police reports or renters insurance claims, but I did inform the manager of the complex. A few days ago, $41 cash was stolen. I spoke with the manager again, very angry that this is still going on. She told me to file a police report. I did. The police told me they can't do anything for me (which I get).
The thing is, during my FB messenger conversation with the manager, she told me that a set of master keys were stolen about a year ago (around the time the break-ins started), and the keys are still missing. The manager thinks she knows who it was, but the police can't do anything without evidence (again, I get it). I asked why the locks hadn't been changed, and she only complained about the high price of doing the entire complex (all the same master). Personally changing my lock is a direct violation of the lease.
I don't know if the owner is aware of the situation.
My problem is, the manager is already upset with me for pushing the issue. I worry that much more will have her looking for a reason to evict me. I have two cats, one of which is an emotional support animal and allowed under the lease. The other I got permission from the manager to adopt, but only verbal. I can't afford to loose my housing, but I can't handle the break-ins anymore. Legally, what can I do?
