My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
My current roommate has had a rough year. His financial troubles turned into depression which turned into poor life choices. We've been on a month to month lease (both of us are on it), and decided we'd leave our current apartment and go our seperate ways. We both gave our 30 notice to the property managers.
Today was supposed to be our move out day. He packed up all his things, but they're still sitting up in the corner of the apartment. I asked the other day where he was moving to and he said to a friends in a different part of San Diego, but he was really vague about it.
What am I liable for if he's not out on time? What actions should I take to protect myself?
He has no money so sueing for damages would be a waste.
