My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York
We issued a certified eviction letter to our tenant August 15 due to unpaid rents, requesting they vacate our property September 30. (Even though our lease says I only needed to give them 30 days).
There was only one person listed on the signed lease. Now we have received a "text" from another person living with the initial tenant (who we didn't know about) who is telling us we cannot padlock the doors October 1 because we have not served her with an eviction notice as a "Jane Doe".
Is this true?
