My question involves real estate located in the State of: Maine

Hi All

I have a question about selling a easement, I found a Deed from 1911 that for 300 dollars a land owner gave a easement for the use of a public road to my town that was 4 rods wide.. would that mean the town owned the dirt the easement was on? or did they just pay for a lifetime easement?

This was 40 years prior to the camp lots being sold and it looks like it is the road in front of my house I am having issues with the neighbor with, I will not spend money to make anything of this legally, I am just wondering if the town bought the dirt for the easement or just for the usage of the easement.
