My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: New Mexico
I was terminated on 8/8/17. Prior to termination I had worked for the company for 2.5 years. I was never late, never called in. During the time I was with the company I was repeatedly promoted & given multiple raises. I have never been disciplined or written up for any reason.
I was called after work hours on 8/4 by HR and told to turn in my building keys on 8/5. When I did so I was told to return on 8/7 for a formal meeting.
At the meeting on 8/7 I was informed that I was being terminated for bad mouthing the company / CEO to another employee. I have never done this and would never have done so as I loved my job!
My unemployment was denied for willful misconduct. I have filed an appeal.
How should I present this to the board? The reason my employer is giving UI is completely made up.
I am nervous / confused as I have never been unemployed in the past and do not know what to expect.
Thank you in advance!
