Social Security Issues: Ss Benefit for a Non-Worker Marrying a Spouse Who is Getting Survivor Benefits

A curious question about how a never married 66 year old individual who has never accumulated 40 quarters...thus not being eligible for a Social Security monthly benefit, will be treated if they marry a person for a year or more, who is getting monthly survivor benefits based on her deceased husband's work record.
So suppose the never married, never worked, 66 year old marries a spouse who is getting the 100% survivors benefit, say $3,000 a month, then will this 66 year old, never married, never worked, new spouse get 50% of the the $3,000 his new wife is collecting?
AND should the person he/she is marrying, who is on the $3,000 survivor's benefit, die after a year or more, will the 66 year old, get the full 100% survivor's benefit ($3,000) that was originally earned by the original deceased worker?
Seems odd that a multiple "chain" of people could all collect benefits, including 100% survivor benefits, all based on the original one worker's record even though themselves never having accumulated 40 quarters and never having been married to the original worker who earned the benefit.
But it seems that may be the law.
