My question involves civil rights in the State of: washington
My friend sold his car on Craigslist and was given a cashiers check as full payment but it never got approved so he was never paid. The bigger problem is that my friend let the buyer take the car and the title. When the buyer was confronted about the payment not going thru he then gave a bs story and sent my friend on a run around to 'meet up with him' to get the money. After that failed we looked his name up online and found where he lived and found the car but did nothing other than that and then we left. He must have saw us driving around and parked by the car because we came back later and it was gone. Later on my friend got a text saying he suddenly had to goto Alaska and would see him later. Eventually thru many text messages the buyer said my friend could go get the car and they'd handle it when he got back from Alaska. Still, there has been no money paid for the car. Now the car sits in my friends possesion with only one of the old plates, no tabs, and no registration. Worried of what the buyer might do when he makes his next appearance..SHAT CAN WE DO to quickly get ownership back or at least start the process?
