My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: British Columbia, Canada
We purchased a dodge truck from a used car dealership. Within three days of purchase the truck started overheating, we contacted the dealership and they said this was normal. Long story short, the next day the head gasket went on it luckily as we had arrived home. They removed the truck and kindly gave us a loan vehicle until they assessed the damage and then offered us a replacement, albiet for a higher price.
Replacement was got 15 days before this incident. Husband and our daughter were driving down the road, suddenly felt the truck shake and thought there was a flat. The entire front driver side wheel was on the ground. Looks to be the ball joint? Could not reach dealership on the phone due to the long weekend, managed to get a tow truck from down the road to lift and bring truck back, as truck was in the middle of the road on a bend. Car dealer not overly happy we organised somebody else to lift it but obviously we could not leave it sitting.
We have taken photos, have a few witnesses. Clearly we anticipate that they will have to either refund us the money or source a suitable vehicle, but I'm highly concerned that this is two vehicles that they have sold that are clearly not properly assessed for sale. Luckily this did not happen on the highway, but nevertheless it put two members of our family in a dangerous situation.
Advice?
