My question involves police conduct in the State of: California
In my city we are required to get a permit to operate an alarm system (residential). On the back off the permit it says:
"The Police Department may inspect the system after the issuance of a permit to determine whether it is being used in conformity with the terms of the permit."
I have looked up the relevant (at least anything in this section of code I can find regarding investigations) section of the City Municipal Code:
"5.49.040 Application for Alarm Permit—Investigation.
Upon receiving an application from any person for an alarm permit, the Finance Director shall cause an investigation to be made of the system to be installed to determine if the system complies with the requirements of this chapter. If the proposed system complies with this chapter, the Finance Director shall cause a permit to be issued. (Ord. 99-19 § 2, 1999: Ord. 94-46 § 3 (part), 1994: Ord. 1898 § 1 (part), 1982)"
I have already received the alarm permit from the City fyi.
My question: Does any of the above give the Police any ability to enter my property/house without my permission or a warrant to inspect said alarm system? Can they just show up and enter my house/property to "inspect the alarm system" because of this permit?
