My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Indiana
Daughter's father incarcerated at Indiana Dept of Corrections. Had order for $44 (haha funny) week support and $20/week for arrears. ($10,000+ arrears).
I received a letter in the mail this week which stated that he had filed a petition to abate current order of support. Request was granted. My questions: 1. Shouldn't I have been notified of said request? I should have had the right to attest. 2. He did work about 5 months before being arrested. His taxes have for years..if any.. been offset and sent to the Child Support Division..then straight to me for arrears. Does this abatement also put a pause on this tax offset? Or does he get the refund for his Ramen noodles and Monster Energy drinks at the DOC? (Sorry for harshness..just isn't right..the whole abatement thing). That's another thread.
