Establishing Paternity: What to Do if a Father Gave False Information on the Children's Birth Certificates

My question involves name change laws in the State of: Illinois.

The father of my 2 boys lied to me when I met him, we were never married and on my children's birth certificate, the first and last name of the father are real but not his nationality nether his date of birth. We moved to Peru (where I am from) 5 years ago, here we got separated.

I found out here that he is not cuban like he told me, he is Peruvian also, and that his date of birth is slightly different. Now that I need to file for child support he states that he is NOT the person on the birth certificates. My boys have been living in Peru for almost 5 years and they have no identity in Peru, the father refuse to change the birth certificates with the correct information and I am afraid about getting a Peruvian identity with false information on the birth certificates. For the Peruvian law I can not pursue child support because the children are not Peruvian, and even if they get Peruvian citizenship, their father on the birth certificate is cuban.

Please advice me, I don't know if I should seek for help here in Peru or in America. I emailed the American Embassy here and also an International Organization. I am waiting for an answer.

I am afraid to go with the wrong lawyer, here or in the US, waste money on useless documents. I want an honest and experience person to tell me what to do.
Also, the father and his mother want to kick us out of the apartment, since it belongs to the father's mother and she is backing up her son on the wrongdoing.
Thank you very much.
