My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Alabama
Trying to figure out what can be done 1st here's a very brief background
I buy a car in full out of my pocket and like a fool let my girlfriend be on the title (love isn't it great?)
Fast forward a few years I get a call from a title loan place saying I need to surrender my car to them long story short ex takes out loan without my knowing and stops paying on it.
ended up she was cheating on me and didnt care to pay the loan SHE took out on our car.
I guess what Im asking is there anyway possible I can keep my car? She took out the loan without my knowing both our names are on the title and i NEVER signed anything to do with a loan.
The title loan Co. Is harrasing me for payments or for the car that has accumulated almost 4k bucks in debt. I can't afford it as Im disabled and on a fixed income. the car Aint even worth but maybe 1k. And is currently broke down.
Is there anything I can do?
Should I just let them take the car and count it as lesson learned?
