My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: Oregon
My father left a will giving amounts of money to several relatives. Several years before his death, he made all his mutual funds TOD on death to me. They contained all his assets. Now that he has passed away, there is nothing left in his estate at all. I understand I can file a small estate probate form instead of using probate, but my question is what to do with the will. Since there is nothing left to distribute, am I still supposed to send copies of the will to all the heirs who will not receive their bequests? Or should I just discard the will since it does not apply any longer? Also, I am planning to put my assets into a trust. Should I wait to transfer my father's TOD funds to my name until a trust is set up, or should I go ahead and transfer them to my name now, and transfer to a trust later?
