My question involves a child custody case from the State of: California. My question is a little complicated but here goes. We currently have my husbands 3 younger children living with us, ages 14, 13 and 10, no official court ordered custody arraignment, their mother just got convicted, took a plea deal for attempted murder of hey ex boyfriend, and was sentenced to 9 years in prison. The older 2 children were living with their grandmother and she was getting kinship money for them the youngest was living with her mother until she moved to live with us. We have had the 14 & 10 year old living with us for almost 2 years and the 13 year old has been with us since June. My question is can both my husband (their biological father) and i both gain sole custody of the kids so that i am able to fully do what needs to be done with school, doctors, therapy ect. And does kinship play a part since their grandmother gave them to us.
