My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: New York
I was pulled over for running a red light. I was cited for this along with a citation due to expired vehicle registration. I went to court and the prosecutor allowed me to enroll into a defensive drivers course in order to dismiss the citations. However, there was a $200 fee, PER TICKET, to apply to the drivers course. So I paid $400 to apply to the course and then I had to pay $25 to take the course. Yeah, stupid.
It doesn't make any sense to me that I had to pay $200 take a defensive driving course for the expired registration citation. It seems like I should just pay a small fine for that one and be done with it. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? I feel like the state is just squeezing me for as much money as they can.
