When a defendant is tried for a crime he did not commit, and is subsequently found not guilty on all counts, why is there no recourse? Specifically, why isn't the government financially liable for the fees of the defendants defense and any additional fees accrued through collateral affects of the false criminal accusation?
If anything, woildnt this sort of liability help to lessen the amount of frivolous and capricious legal cases that destroy people's lives and overburden the justice system?
