My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Pennsylvania
I called to cancel my daughters enrollment in a Tae Kwon do class in 2014 b/c I moved over an hour away. When I spoke to an instructor he said it was fine. I asked him if I needed to come to the studio and he told me that I did not. After that conversation I tried contacting them via telephone multiple times and left messages which were never returned. This was the same line that they had previously called me on whenever they had any questions. I thought it was taken care of after that until I started receiving letters from a collection agency. I am being charged with the entire year now and it is also on my credit report. I advised the collection company that I spoke with the Tae kwon do studio and I was told that in my contract it states that I have to give documentation of my move and now I can no longer do that b/c it had to be done at the time of the cancellation. Is there anything I can do to combat this? The collection agency also advised me that I can't contact the studio about the matter b/c it's theirs now.
I honestly did not read the entire contract but after I spoke with the instructor (who's name I can't remember) I thought it was solved. I also do not have the contract any longer. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
