My question involves personal property located in the State of: New York
I'm a shareholder in a co-op building. I left a $320 package with my doorman, which was to be shipped via Fed Ex. The package had a large Fed Ex shipping label on it, and the doorman noted in his log book that it was to be shipped via Fed Ex. However, when a UPS driver arrived to the building to pick up an entirely different package from me, my doorman allowed the UPS driver to take my Fed Ex package instead. The UPS driver then took my Fed Ex package and slapped a UPS label onto it, and shipped it off to an entirely different company/city/state. My $320 package was delivered to the wrong recipient and now they "cannot find it." My $320 package is now permanently missing, and nobody is taking responsibility. UPS blames my doorman. My Doorman blames UPS. And the company who received the package is blaming UPS as well. After numerous calls I cannot get this resolved. My feeling is it is the doorman's fault and the building should compensate me. But the building management and co-op board refuse to do so. I have documentation of everything but they do not care. What are the laws regarding this?
