My question involves defamation in the state of: Michigan
Saturday night I ended up going to our local emergency room. I was treated and released. I did not take any narcotics at all at the hospital because I did not have a driver. I was given two to take when I arrived home. I was only given Augmenton. Which is a antibiotic. I was released and I started to pull out of the hospital parking lot when I saw the nurse from check in watching me at the curb leave. I left I was two blocks away from home and two squad cars pulled me over along with another one blocking the front of my vehicle. I gave them all information they asked for (license, insurance, regristration). They ask me if i knew why they pulled me over? Of course not. They received a call from the nurse telling them I left the hospital under the influence of narcotics. I told them I did not take any narcotics because I did not have a driver. I showed them what they gave me and that both pods were still in tact and not opened. They made me get out of the car and wait for them to figure this out. They were going to put me in hand cuffs and place me in the back of the squad car. Needless to say 20 minutes later, I did get to leave. If I could not prove i was not driving under the influence they were going to take me to jail and would have caused me issues with my license. I drive 15 miles each day to work, I need my license. All because this woman was sticking her nose out and did not check the facts before making a false report to police. Can I do anything about this so this does not happen to other innocent individuals?
