My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: CA
Sis-in-Law was using our car while in town. She does not have any sort of insurance. While driving got into an accident with a bicyclist. She was deemed at fault by the police report and our insurance company. Our insurance company has already paid other party for property damage.
Ongoing is personal injury. We have minimal state requirement coverage (hindsight is 20/20, I know) and have been told by our insurance company there is a possibility the other party is seeking payment above our limit and has hired a lawyer. We have not heard anything from the other party of lawyer yet.
What can/should (if anything) we be doing now to prepare and protect our assets
