My question involves real estate located in the State of: Florida
Separated from ex-girlfriend + I moved out 5 years ago. Only her name is on the mortgage. We added my name to title with a quit claim. She still resides there.
I now want to buy a house with my wife, but the ex-girlfriend will not sign a quit claim to remove my name from the deed. She is many months overdue on the mortgage payments. I do not want anything from her or any claim on the house.
1. Can I remove my name from the deed without her signature? Is there another legal method, other than the quit claim?
2. Will this affect my ability to buy a property with my wife?
