My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: OR
Not sure if that topic is correct; this is my first post here.
We are purchasing an existing home that is being restored in Portland, OR. My question is regarding aerial power (and possibly other utility) lines that run directly across the property, low over a garage, and to a neighboring home. These wires are not only unsightly, but we intend to build a rooftop garden on the garage and the utility lines will interfere. The building seems to think that the lines constitute aerial trespass since there doesn't appear to be an easement on the record for them.
Our house is on a corner lot. The lines run from the street in front of the house, all the way across the lot to the house behind us. There does appear to be a power pole across the street from the neighbor's house so I'm not sure why it doesn't run directly from there.
Just wondering how I find out if there's any recourse before we start making calls (and potentially causing issues with new neighbors).
Thanks in advance!
