Theft and Larceny: Accidental Shoplifting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kentucky.
This a long story but I'm going to try to shorten it. About a month ago I got a call from my nephew saying I should call Walmart that there was a boy he knew that worked there that told him they asked him if I would steal. I immediately called Walmart and told girl who answered the story. (I had just been to Walmart that morning) she didn't know anything so I asked her to transfer me to a manager. She assured me everything was ok. I gave her my name and number and told her if she found out there was some sort of problem to call me. She told me she would and not to worry. This week a cop showed up at my house and asked me to come to the station. He showed me a video of me and my two daughters in the self check out. We scanned and bagged $158 worth of groceries and my cell rang. Distracted I pushed the cart out the door without running my card. I'm absolutely mortified. I was not arrested but told to pick up a summons. I'm 48 years old and I have a spotless record and a good reputation. Ive cried for three days. Any advice would be appreciated.
