My question involves a marriage in the state of: Texas
My problem is very simple. I was married to my abusive husband in Pakistan and later I moved to the USA (in 2009) where he lived as well. We lived together for about one year in Texas, after which I left due to the abuse. I left him in 2010. I live in Texas currently and so does my ex-Husband, even though our marriage took place in Pakistan.
It has been more than three years since we separated but haven't obtained legal divorce or annulment. A while back (in 2014), I learned that my husband was married to *another woman* in the USA from 2003 all the way till 2013!
This makes our marriage void. I learned of his bigamy in 2013 and we haven't resided together since. And I believe that I need to file a Petition to Declare Marriage Void in Texas rather than an annulment, which appear to be two different things in the state of Texas.
Now the question: How can I file a Petition to Declare Marriage Void in Collin County? I see online services that would file an annulment for $150 or something but not Petition to Declare Marriage as Void. I am happy representing myself in court on this - I have been to many court hearings because of my ex-Husband. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on this.
What course should I take?
