My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Georgia
I received a stop sign violation one night and I'm curious on how to go about this in court, since I've never had a violation and have a clean record.
It was dark and raining, and very light - no traffic on the road (I was in a small neighborhood area near the city). I just pulled out of my friend's home, drove for a few seconds and saw to a 2 way intersection up ahead. I was about to reach the end of the road when I saw the stop sign/line was not at the very end of the street. To clarify, the curb took a bit of a curve which placed the stop sign farther back. Without hesitation, I stopped quickly right behind the line. To make it even better, the yard on the corner made my view of the street difficult to distinguish any vehicles coming from that direction. I looked out for any possible headlights, which from my view was clear, and I turned. Moments later, a police car comes from behind me, swerves into the other lane to dodge my car, stopping several meters in front of me. He turns around, comes up behind my car, and I receive the violation.
I know many people claimed they stopped at the stop signs, whether they actually did or not. I'm just trying to get some feedback about this since it's the first time for me.
