Traffic Accidents: Failure to Yield

My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: Georgia
I was involved in an accident I was on my way to Walmart I stopped at the stop sign and looked both ways before crossing and if I did not stop I would have got hit on the drivers side but before I proceeded to cross I looked both ways again and the other vehicle was a good distance away and as I proceeded to cross the other vehicle hit us on the passenger side pushing us in front of a railing which separates the free way below from the interstate above and the speed limit was 35 but we got a ticket for failure to yield when the other car was obviously speeding? what should I do ? can I fight this?
