My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: North Carolina
My roommate went to PA and ended up deciding to stay there. He left all his belongings, and his jeep was still at his place of employment. He took a train to PA. After a month he finally came down to get his things. He was polite and apologetic. He told me he was going to give me his jeep to cover unpaid rent. We met and signed the title and got it notarized. He met his friend at his work to bring his jeep back to my house, but it wouldn't start, so he had it towed to a mechanics house. That was 20 days ago! I keep texting him, and last he heard, they had to order a part and said it should be ready the end of last weekend. I haven't gone to the DMV to get the title transferred in my name because I'm waiting until the jeep is in my driveway. I only have 8 days left to clean the jeep and sell it before I have to pay all the fees to get it registered. If I don't get the jeep in time, can I just send him back the title? I need to make money on this car, not spend money on it. Thank you!
