If driving a company owned vehicle with a defective head lamp or side marker, would the owner or operator of the vehicle be given the 15 day notice to fix? It's just a spare company owned pickup sometimes used to remove skids from the company property. We don't have any vehicle inspection books or anything like that to formally inform the company of vehicle issues but i have verbally informed them and they verbally told me they already knew. It's not a huge deal as it normally only gets driven during daylight when the lights can be off, but i'd like to know who would that citation be given to: the person/entity that owns (and in my opinion should be responsible for maintenance) the vehicle, or the person operating the defective vehicle (who also should be responsible to some extent for the compliance of the vehicle)?
