My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Colorado
I'm planning to finish the bathroom in my unfinished basement. I hired some guys to help me haul wood to my house because I don't have a truck.
Building inspector sees them unloading wood and asks what's going on. I told him I'm getting ready to finish the bathroom in my basement and I hired these guys to help me.
He posts a red notice on my door to stop work and obtain permit within 72 hours or face up to a year in jail. The permit fee is now doubled.
No work had begun on my property.
The next morning I went and got the permit which cost me $800.
Is this right and fair? Should I, can I fight this fee?
