Traffic Lights, Signs and Controls: Failure to Obey a Traffice Device in a Private Lot

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Maryland

Just scratching my head on this one. A cop gave me a ticket in a McDonald's parking lot for entering the wrong way into the lot from another parking lot. West of the McDonald's lot is a street; north, south and east of the lot are parking lots for adjacent businesses. I entered from the northerly lot and followed direction arrows on the ground, which seem to lead through "do not enter" path, but the signs were barely visible from my angle of entry. Clearly, I could probably get this dismissed because the the signs weren't facing me when I entered the lot. But then it occurred to me, "wait... can you even get a ticket on private property for failing to obey privately owned signage?"
