Driver's License Reinstatement Suspended

I first got my license in Georgia in the middle of February 2015. I was 16, and still in high school. In Georgia there is a law that says if you miss more than 10 unexcused days of high school, your license will be suspended (a law that has since been removed). I did not know of this law until I received a letter at the end of April, saying that it was suspended from March 27, 2015 to March 27, 2016. It also said I had ten days to appeal it from the date on the letter, but it had already been a month before I received the letter. So I didn't drive for 10 months, and then I dropped out of school(for very personal reasons that I do not wish to disclose) and moved to Massachusetts to live with my mom. I emailed the customer service for MassDOT and they told me I would have to get my license first reinstated in Georgia first and then try to get one up here. But since I'm only 17 I'd have to go all the way down there, and I might not be able to even get it back because I'm no longer in high school. and they also said I would need a 30 day certified driving record from Georgia. So am I supposed to go down to Georgia, get my license, and drive around for 30 days safely until I get the certified driving record? It doesn't make sense to me. Has anybody been through this also or something similar? It is a very unique situation but I need my license back to get a job up here. Thanks for reading.
