My question involves adoption law for the State of: ND
We are in the process of me adopting my two step sons. My husband spoke with them about it before we filed and that is what they wanted. We did explain to them what it meant. One is age 7 and the other is almost 6. I have been helping raise them for 2 years. Their biological mother has not seen or spoke to them since February 1, 2015. She has been in and out of the kids lives every other 3-4 months except this last time. Her family has claimed she's been doing meth and living with her abusive boyfriend. She also has 2 warrants out for her arrest. Well she just had a kid about a week ago and now her family is acting like nothing ever happened. She still has not called or tried to get in contact. But she's been commenting on Facebook about how she's proud of her kids. I'm worried that the adoption won't go through. Does anyone have any similar stories they could share with me. I need some reassurance that everything will be okay. Thank you.
