I'm in Quebec
So I turn left onto a large 4 lane street (with a large divider) and I immediately see a cop about 200 meters away parked on the side of the road. I even make a comment to everyone in the car and note "hey, there's a cop." It's 4pm, Tuesday, just picked up my kids and wife from school, driving 30km in a 50km zone. In other words, I was at my best behavior having my family in the car and knowing there's a cop right next to me. All of a sudden, the cops turns on his lights and chases me down. I had no clue why, I was almost shocked and in disbelief when he pulled ME over! What on earth did I do? I was following traffic, I was doing the speed limit. It never even occurred to me that he was going to give me a ticket from blowing a stop sign. Why didn't it occur to me? I didn't see a bus, and neither did anyone else in my car. The cop was a jerk and wouldn't give me any details so I don't know anything about what he saw. When I told him I didn't see a bus, and asked what proof he had, he said and I quote, "he didn't need any proof."
Personally, I don't think there was a bus because I didn't see it. Neither did my wife. But the cop did. So who's right? I have nothing else to go on. However, why should I believe him.
Cops are under quota pressures here in montreal, maybe it's affected his judgement. What proof does he need? I called the station and they said he need something (the person on the phone said at a minimum he needed the school bus number.) I don't know what he has, but I certainly didn't see a bus and have a hard time even believing one was there.
I'm not sure what to do? Will I piss off the judge if I tell her I think he's making it up in other words calling the cop a liar? I plan on getting a hold of the policeman's notes (which I can get but I have to go to the courthouse in person) and I plan on finding the policeman's history to see if he has ever done stuff like this in the past.
Anyway, my court date is in a month, what would you do if you were me?
