Traffic Court Issues: Fighting a CVC 22349(A) Ticket

My question involves traffic court in the State of: California

Hello all, i'll try to be as specific as possible in efforts to get help on what i should do.

I was driving down the highway at 10/15/15 and admittedly so i was driving fast then got pulled over by a police. The police pulled over me and another car that was white. The officer got my information and said i was going 97 mph and asked if i thought that was fast and i agreed it was too fast (not questioning him or anything due to being scared). He gives me the ticket citing it for 97mph which i don't think i was going granted i was going fast but i don't believe it was that fast. Where it asks to put Radar/Lidar/Patrol Vehicle he put down numbers im assuming is his patrol vehicle number. What i believe is he lumped me in with the other driver like saying oh he was going 97 so were you kind of thing. I have the incident on dash cam video, now i don't think i have much of case as i broke down this video and saw more negatives than good (my date stamp was not setup properly)

I went to the court and they said they extended my time period. on the ticket it said my court date was 12/17/15 but when i got the letter in the mail it said 1/20/15. I asked the clerk what that meant she simply said "You should be lucky we extended it for you" and asked if there were any options to try and get my fee lowered she said "We don't lower fines only higher them" I think they might have extended my time because they have my birthday wrong and couldnt verify my information. On the ticket it said $480 but when i got to the court house she said after verifying who i was it went up to $540. Then she told me that if i go to court and am found guilty they could suspend my license.

So my question now is whats my next play? Should i see what evidence they have on me? Should i just pay it? I mean i rather not im taking 6 classes in college and this would just be a huge burden. Please any help would be appreciated
