My question involves personal property located in the State of: California
My fiancé and I gave someone her car to do body/paint work to and paid in full. Also the same person has one of my cars and my car parts to build my car. After paying him and loaning him money he's in debt to me over $8,000 Years have gone by with nothing being done so I just want to get my stuff back and cut ties with him. I called the local Sherriff's department and they said it's a civil matter and I'd have to get a lawyer. I have no idea what kind of attorney to get or what needs to be done. I do understand that I'd have to take him to court for the money but how do I get my physical property he has? He won't return my calls or give me a time to go there and pick it all up. He just keeps dodging me or giving me the run a round with excuses on being "busy"
