My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: CA
I went to the gas station for a quick trip to get some coffee as it was late and I felt tired and was going to take my girlfriend home and once we leave the gas station there is a police parked across the street (freeway). When i left the gas station i didn't realize my Headlamps weren't on as the gas station was very bright and my car lights are not so bright so it would be nearly impossible to tell but once i got on the actual road i immediately saw the difference and turned them on right away but the police saw me driving without them and pulls me over. The cop himself said he would understand if it was a couple hundred feet driving without the headlamps but he didn't know i was at the 7/11 across from where he was parked and he said he thought i had driving several blocks without the head lamps on. After a while he come back and gives me a Citation and tells me i need to show up to court on a month from today. I explain to him that i was right across at 711 when My lights were off and not driving several blocks like he claims but he says i can explain this in court. So really My Headlamps were off for less than 100 feet witch is a simple mistake that pretty much happens to anyone all the time and hes making it look like i was driving several blocks without them. Is this something i would have a good chance to fight in court or is it a waste of my time and effort. Also my girlfriend was there when this happens and she can collaborate anything i would say. Thanks for any advice!
