My question involves personal property located in the State of: California
I borrowed a friends car to haul my personal and sentimental property to my new living space. With literally all my things worth about $50K including $15K of cash in the car, the car got towed from a REPO company. I had no clue it was on the REPO list. Anyhow, I asked my friend to go with me to get our personal property back but she tells me that either the finance company or the repo company will not release any information until she wires $2700 to either the finance company or the repo company. I was puzzled. This happened on August 28th, 2015. Today is September 4th, 2015 and I still have not gotten my property back. I went to her house with police for keeping peace or whatever to speak with her about getting my personal property back and she still keeps asking for $2700 to get information on the cars whereabouts and to get it realease. Basically, she doesnt care about my things and is letting repo guys mess with my things or steal my things. She will not help me get my property back unless I pay $2700.
I literally have all my property in her car, even my clothes, my mothers jewelries, my money, my work equipment, my personal legal documents, everything you can think of. Is there help to get my personal property back? I am miserable and literally have nothing....
