My question involves child support in the State of: tn
I live in mo, where we both lived and order originates from, ncp moved to tn a few years after our divorce. He payed support in the beginning but hasn't "worked" in the last few years. My case has been transferred to tn and I was told contempt charges were filed in July of this year. Tn won't tell me anything except they'll send anything they find to mo. I was told if I could get an address for him it would help. I made a call and got the info they needed and called back with it. My ex and his wife bought a house in July of this year so the address is good, his name was on the house and a week later he quick claimed deed the house to her. I gave tn all info I had including her description so when they serve they know who she is, tn caseworkers words, so they can't evade the serving. If found in contempt, what happens next? Will tn put him in jail and he'll have to bond out? As in he will have to pay x amount in support in order to get out? He is over $35000 behind and his payments are $500 per month for two kids. Clearly if he can buy a house he has some kind of income, purchase price was $152708. His name on it shows that he has the means to buy a house, which shows the court he has the ability to work. And his quick claim deed shows that he's being shady so they don't put a Lien on the house when they sell it to satisfy his support obligation. If there is a hearing with a judge, I want to be there but tn will not tell me how the process goes.
