My question involves real estate located in the State of: Connecticut
We moved into our house in 2000. We live in a development that has an association. As well. We had a patio built in 2005 and all was good until this past month. Our neighbor and I do not get along. She started letting our other neighbors know that she was intent on building a fence between our properties. . When we had the patio built in 2005 there was no association since it was not formed at that point. She claimed that our patio encroached on her property a D had a survey done. According to the survey the patio does encroach over her line but the line does not appear to be straight.
What I wanted to know is, at what point in the State of Connecticut, does her query of our patio encroaching her property not become valid. I thought there was a period of time that she had to bring forth a lawsuit over property lines or else it becomes ours. Is there a statue of limitations that exists for property lines?
She hired a lawyer and we received a letter stating that we have 10 days to remove the part of the patio that is in her alleged property. Do we have to hire an alternate survey to compare??
14 years seems like a long time to have a patio and the out of the blue request it to be removed.
Any help would be appreciated!
